Onkyo X-FLAF9X Review: Tri-Colour 3-Inch Fog Lamps and Questions to Ask First
The Onkyo X-FLAF9X is a pair of 3-inch Bi-LED projector fog lamps with a flat cut-off, listed with three colour temperatures (3000K, 4500K and 6000K), a rating of 110 W per set, IP68 protection and a 9 to 32 V supply range. The India MRP is ₹15,990, which is ₹1,000 above the single-colour X-FLAF9 at the same wattage, and the listing gives no lumen figure. It suits a buyer who wants a choice of colour temperature in a 3-inch fog lamp and will confirm how that choice is wired before ordering. See the X-FLAF9X product page in our store.

Wattage, lens size, colour temperatures, voltage, protection rating, body material, lifespan and working temperature match Onkyo's X-FLAF9X page, which describes the light as a Tri. Color Combo. The Bi-LED description and flat cut-off appear only in our listing.
Three colour temperatures, and what the sources leave open
Colour temperature describes how warm or cool a white light looks. 3000K is a warm, yellowish white, 4500K is closer to neutral and 6000K is a cool white. The X-FLAF9, X-FLAF9+1 and X-FLAF9+2 list 6000K only, so this is the one 3-inch set we list that offers a warmer tone.
What the sources do not say is how the colour is chosen. The listing gives the three temperatures and nothing about switching, and Onkyo's page uses the words Tri. Color Combo without explanation. Whether you select a colour with a switch, a controller or separate wires, whether colours can be combined, and whether brightness or power draw changes with the setting are all unstated. Settle these points before you plan the wiring or decide where the switch goes.
Power, wiring and heat
The listing gives 110 W per set and no per-lamp figures, unlike the X-FLAF9 listing, which splits it into low and high beam. As a rough guide, 110 W from a 12 V supply is about 9 A, which is our arithmetic and not a published current rating. The 9 to 32 V range spans 12 V and 24 V systems. Size the fuse, relay and cable to the lamps rather than to the stock fog lamp circuit.
The listing does not describe the cooling design, so leave air space around the body, because a closed bumper cavity has little airflow in an Indian summer. IP68 means dust-tight and rated for immersion under conditions the maker sets, which the listing does not give. It covers the lamp, not the joints you make, so seal every connector.
What owners and reviewers say about the Onkyo X-FLAF9X
We found no owner reviews or independent tests of the Onkyo X-FLAF9X when we checked in October 2026. Our listing has no customer reviews, and Onkyo's page is a specification list, which is promotional. Searches by model number found nothing relevant. Amazon, Flipkart and YouTube could not be searched with our tools, so reviews may exist there.
Other makers' tri-colour projector fog lamps do get discussed. In June to August 2026 posts on Team-BHP's auto lighting thread, one member said a tri-colour pair with high and low beam gave strong light close to the car but did not reach as far as the headlamps, because fog lamps sit low, and suggested them mainly for fog or heavy rain. Another member had a tri-colour pair fitted by a workshop in about 40 minutes without removing the bumper, but was unhappy with the alignment. Two members said the alignment looked wrong, and one of them added that a correctly set projector shows a very flat cut-off line. Those posts concern other makers' lamps and their fitting, not Onkyo's. If you own an X-FLAF9X, tell us how the colour switching works day to day.
X-FLAF9X against the single-colour 3-inch sets
The X-FLAF9 is ₹1,000 cheaper at ₹14,990, has the same 110 W rating, lists 6000K only, and gives 6000 lm with 45 W low beam and 55 W high beam per lamp. The X-FLAF9+1 lists 120 W and 7000 lm at ₹15,990, the same MRP as this set, and the X-FLAF9+2 lists 130 W and 7500 lm at ₹16,990. The X-FLAF9X is the only one of the four whose listing has no lumen figure, so the single-colour sets give you more published output to compare.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the X-FLAF9X if you want warm and cool options in a 3-inch lamp, you are comfortable with a listing that gives no lumens and no switching method, and you will find out how the switching works before you order.
Look elsewhere if you want published lumens and per-lamp wattages, which the X-FLAF9, X-FLAF9+1 and X-FLAF9+2 listings give, or the lowest MRP among our 3-inch sets, which is the X-FLAF9. If your fog lamp opening is smaller than a 3-inch lens, the X-FLAF20 uses a 2-inch lens.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Measure the opening, the depth behind it and the room for connectors before you order. The listing gives the 3-inch lens size and nothing more about dimensions. Find out how the colour is selected so any switch or controller can go where you can reach it, and ask us to check fitment. Our listing currently says all sales are final, so settle both first.
After fitting, aim the lamps low, check the pattern against a wall at night, and look at the aim again after a few weeks of rough roads. Rules on lamp colour and on when additional lamps may be used vary by place, so check the current local rules before choosing a colour for road use. Onkyo X-FLAF9X price and where to buy
The Onkyo X-FLAF9X has an India MRP of ₹15,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the X-FLAF9X listing. Warranty terms and duration are set by Onkyo, so confirm them with us before ordering. Onkyo's X-WL711 and X-WL721 work lights are also in our store.
The bottom line
The X-FLAF9X adds colour temperature options to Onkyo's 3-inch fog projector format, for ₹1,000 more than the X-FLAF9. In exchange, the listing is thinner: no lumen figure, no per-lamp wattages and no word on how the colour is selected. Get those answers before you order, and treat aim and wiring as part of the job.
Onkyo X-FLAF9X FAQ
How do you switch colours on the Onkyo X-FLAF9X?
Neither our listing nor Onkyo's page says. They list 3000K, 4500K and 6000K as the colour temperatures and give no switching method, so settle that before you plan the wiring or the switch position.
What is the difference between the X-FLAF9X and the X-FLAF9?
Colour options. The X-FLAF9X lists 3000K, 4500K and 6000K at ₹15,990, while the X-FLAF9 lists 6000K only at ₹14,990. Both are 110 W per set with 3-inch lenses, but only the X-FLAF9 listing gives a lumen figure and per-lamp wattages.
Does the colour setting change how well the X-FLAF9X works in fog?
Neither Onkyo nor our listing makes any claim about it, and the listing gives no lumen figure for any setting. Some drivers favour warmer light in fog, but treat that as a preference and not a specification. Correct aim matters whichever colour you choose.
