Onkyo X-FLAF9 Review: 3-Inch Bi-LED Fog Lamps, Fitment and Wiring Notes

6 min read

The Onkyo X-FLAF9 is a pair of 3-inch Bi-LED projector fog lamps with a flat cut-off, rated at 110 W per set and listed at 6000 lm in our store, with 6000K white light, IP68 protection and a 9 to 32 V supply range. The India MRP is ₹14,990, the lowest of the four 3-inch fog lamp sets we list, and Onkyo's own car-light page puts it among six fog projectors. It suits a buyer whose car has room for a 3-inch lens in the fog lamp position and who will check fitment, wiring and aim before ordering. You can see the set on our X-FLAF9 product page.

  • The ₹14,990 MRP is the lowest of the four 3-inch fog lamp sets we list.

  • We found no owner reviews or tests of this model in October 2026, so the advice below rests on the specifications and general practice.

Wattage, lens size, voltage, protection rating, colour temperature, body material, lifespan and working temperature match Onkyo's X-FLAF9 page. The Bi-LED description, flat cut-off, lumen figure and per-lamp wattages appear only in our listing; Onkyo's page does not carry them.

What a flat cut-off projector lamp does

In a projector lamp a lens focuses the light and a shield forms the top edge of the beam. A flat cut-off means that edge is horizontal. Aimed correctly, the light stays below that line, on the road and verge ahead of the bumper, instead of reaching the eyes of oncoming drivers. Neither the listing nor Onkyo's page gives a beam angle or a lux figure, so 6000 lm is a total-output number, not a promise about visibility in fog.

The listing gives separate low and high beam wattages but does not say how the lamp changes between them, or what switch and wiring that needs, so settle that before you plan the harness.

Power, wiring and heat

The 110 W per set matches two lamps at the listed 55 W high beam figure. On low beam, at 45 W each, the pair draws 90 W. From a 12 V supply that is roughly 8 A on low and 9 A on high, which is our arithmetic and not a published current rating. The 9 to 32 V range spans 12 V and 24 V systems. No fuse, relay or harness details are listed, so size the fuse, relay and cable to the lamps rather than to whatever the stock fog lamp circuit was built for.

LED lamps need to shed heat, and a closed bumper cavity in an Indian summer has little airflow. The listing does not describe the cooling design, so leave air space around the body and keep wiring off it. IP68 means dust-tight and rated for immersion under conditions the maker sets, which the listing does not give. That matters for low-mounted lamps in monsoon waterlogging, but it covers the lamp and not the joints you make, so seal every connector.

What owners and reviewers say about the Onkyo X-FLAF9

We found no owner reviews or independent tests of the Onkyo X-FLAF9 when we checked in October 2026. Our listing has no customer reviews, and Onkyo's page is a specification list, which is promotional rather than a review. Searches by model number turned up nothing relevant. Amazon, Flipkart and YouTube could not be searched with our tools, so reviews may exist there that we have not seen.

The nearest material concerns other brands' lamps. In June to August 2026 posts on Team-BHP's auto lighting thread, one member said most LED fog projectors use a mechanical shutter to combine high and low beam. Another said tri-colour projector fog lamps give strong light close to the car but do not reach as far as headlamps because they sit low, and suggested them mainly for fog or heavy rain. One owner was unhappy with the alignment after a workshop fitted a pair, and two members said the beams looked misaimed. That is feedback on installation and on other makers' lamps, not on Onkyo's. If you own an X-FLAF9, tell us how it has gone.

The X-FLAF9X costs ₹1,000 more for the same 110 W rating and three colour temperatures, and its listing gives no lumen figure. The X-FLAF9+1 adds 10 W and 1,000 lm for ₹1,000 more, and the X-FLAF9+2 adds 20 W and 1,500 lm for ₹2,000 more. All four list the same lens size, protection rating and voltage range, so the differences the listings show are wattage, lumens, colour, price, and an irradiation distance on the X-FLAF9+2 listing alone.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the X-FLAF9 if your fog lamp opening takes a 3-inch lens, you want single-colour 6000K light, and the lowest MRP among our 3-inch sets matters more to you than the higher lumen figures on the X-FLAF9+1 and X-FLAF9+2.

Look elsewhere if you want a warmer tone, where the X-FLAF9X is the 3-inch set we list with a 3000K option, or your opening is smaller, where the X-FLAF20 and X-FLAF21 use 2-inch lenses. Fog lamps supplement headlights and do not replace them. If you cannot confirm fitment, wait: our listing currently says all sales are final.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Measure the opening, the depth behind it and the room for the connectors before you order. The listing gives the 3-inch lens size and nothing else about dimensions, and it mentions no brackets or harness. Ask us to check fitment. Fix the lamps firmly, because rough roads and speed breakers loosen weak mounts, and route the wires away from hot or moving parts.

After fitting, aim the lamps low, check the pattern against a wall at night, and look at the aim again after a few weeks. Rules on additional lamps, their colour and when they may be used vary by place, so check the current local rules; neither Onkyo's page nor our listing makes any approval statement. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Onkyo X-FLAF9 price and where to buy

The Onkyo X-FLAF9 has an India MRP of ₹14,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the X-FLAF9 listing, which describes the set as a genuine Onkyo product. Warranty terms and duration are set by Onkyo, so confirm them with us before ordering.

Onkyo's other lights in our store include the X-E850 and X-E1200 LED headlight bulbs and the X-WL711 and X-WL721 work lights.

The bottom line

The X-FLAF9 is the single-colour, lowest-MRP entry among the 3-inch fog projectors we list, with a 110 W rating and 6000 lm. What it lacks is owner evidence, and the listing leaves out dimensions, beam switching and wiring details. Confirm fitment before you order, plan a fused relay circuit, and aim the lamps carefully once they are on the car.

Onkyo X-FLAF9 FAQ

What does 110 W per set mean for the Onkyo X-FLAF9?

It is the rating for the pair. The listing gives 45 W per lamp on low beam and 55 W on high, so the pair draws about 90 W on low and 110 W on high. From a 12 V supply that is roughly 8 to 9 A, our arithmetic and not a published rating.

Do I need to check road rules before fitting the X-FLAF9?

Yes. Neither Onkyo's page nor our listing makes any approval statement, so we cannot say how any authority treats the lamps on your vehicle. Check the current local rules on additional lamps, aim them low and use them only when conditions call for them.

Will the X-FLAF9 fit my car's fog lamp opening?

It has a 3-inch lens, but the listing gives no body dimensions, brackets or connector details. Measure your opening and the depth behind it, then ask us to check fitment before you order.
