Recoil PW10D4 Review: 600 W RMS 10-Inch Subwoofer, Amplifier Match and Boot Fit

6 min read

The Recoil PW10D4 is a 10-inch dual 4-ohm subwoofer from Recoil's Echo Pro range, rated at 600 W RMS and 1,200 W peak, with a 2.5 in (63.5 mm) four-layer voice coil and an IMPP cone. Its Indian MRP is ₹18,000, which is ₹2,000 less than the PW12D4. It suits a buyer with a smaller boot who wants a single sub and an amplifier that lists close to 600 W RMS at 2 ohm. You can see it on our Recoil PW10D4 product page.

Recoil PW10D4 10-inch Echo Pro dual 4-ohm subwoofer

Quick summary

  • The 1,200 W in the product name is the peak figure. Plan around 600 W RMS.

  • Our listing and Recoil Audio USA's page agree on every figure they share, including the 9.8 mm Xmax, 148 mm mounting depth and 233 mm cut-out.

  • The two 4-ohm coils wire to 2 ohm or 8 ohm. Two mono amplifiers reviewed on this blog list 570 W and 600 W RMS at 2 ohm.

  • No owner reviews or independent tests turned up in October 2026, so the PW10D4 figures here are Recoil's own.

Reading the 1200W in the product name

Recoil's page and our listing label 600 W as RMS and 1,200 W as peak, and Recoil Audio USA's table calls the larger figure MAX. A peak rating describes a short burst. The continuous rating is the one that tells you how much amplifier power the coils can live with, so size the amplifier by 600 W RMS.

Recoil's page says the high-temperature coating on the voice coils lets the woofer handle more than its rating, which is Recoil's claim. Its warranty terms, written for the US, say blown or burned voice coils are not manufacturing defects. A subsonic filter and a gain set against a test tone are cheap protection.

Sub, amplifier and wiring for a smaller boot

A smaller boot suits a smaller amplifier too. The Alpine S2-A60M lists 600 W RMS at 2 ohm (₹35,999 MRP), the same number as the sub, in a 220 x 56.5 x 210 mm chassis. Alpine's figures call for 4 AWG power wire up to 10 m and an external fuse of 60 A or larger. The Deaf Bonce Machete MFA-1.800 lists 570 W RMS at 2 ohm (₹28,990 MRP) in a 192 x 152 x 55 mm case, with its manual placing the fuse holder within 40 cm of the battery.

Both ratings are at 14.4 V, and neither amplifier lists an 8-ohm rating, so wire the coils in parallel for 2 ohm. With the AC running at idle, a car's voltage can sit below 14.4 V, so output may fall short of the figures on paper.

Box volume and the 148 mm depth

Recoil gives no recommended enclosure volume or type for the PW10D4. The US page lists Vas 28.6 L against 58.6 L for the PW12D4, and a smaller Vas generally goes with a smaller box, but treat that as a direction rather than a size. The 148 mm is how far the driver sits behind the baffle, so the box must be deeper than that.

At 148 mm this is a standard-depth driver, not a shallow-mount one. If depth is the limit, our Recoil PWS8D4 lists a 73.2 mm mounting depth, though it is an 8-inch rated 250 W RMS. VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer enclosures to suit the boot.

What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil PW10D4

When we looked in October 2026 we found no owner write-ups or independent tests. This is what we checked:

  • Recoil's own PW10D4 page shows Reviews (0).

  • Recoil Audio USA's page shows no reviews or rating.

  • DIYMobileAudio and Sonic Electronix search pages returned errors.

  • Amazon blocks automated access, and a CarAudioForum search came back empty.

The last two items mean discussion may exist that we could not read. If you run a PW10D4, leave a comment with your box and amplifier.

Where the PW10D4 sits in the Echo Pro PW range

The Recoil PW12D4 (₹20,000 MRP, 700 W RMS) lists a 14 mm Xmax and 471.4 cm² of cone area against the PW10D4's 9.8 mm and 314.2 cm². Going down, the Recoil PW8D4 (₹12,000 MRP, 400 W RMS) lists a 105 mm mounting depth and a 184 mm cut-out on the US page.

The PW10D4 against other 10-inch subwoofers we list

The Deaf Bonce Machete MF-10S lists 800 W RMS and 1,600 W max, a 14 mm Xmax, a 143.0 mm mounting depth and a 228.0 mm cut-out at ₹19,990 MRP, with dual 2-ohm or dual 4-ohm versions. The PW10D4 lists 600 W RMS and a 9.8 mm Xmax at ₹18,000.

The Alpine S2-W10 carries the same 600 W RMS label at ₹24,999 MRP, with a 1,800 W peak figure. The Hertz CS 250 (₹19,990 MRP) lists 300 W continuous and 600 W peak with a 115 mm mounting depth, and our listing mentions compact sealed enclosures from 16 litres. Makers do not necessarily rate drivers to one common test, so treat these as list figures.

Who should buy the PW10D4, and who shouldn't

Buy it if you want one 10-inch sub, have a boot that cannot take a 12, and can supply an amplifier near 600 W RMS at 2 ohm. The cut-out is 50 mm smaller than the PW12D4's 283 mm.

Look elsewhere if depth is tight (the PWS8D4 is the shallow option among the Echo Pro PW subwoofers we review), if you want a larger Xmax on paper (the MF-10S lists 14 mm), or if you need a maker-stated box volume.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Run the power cable away from the signal cables, protect it with grommets wherever it passes through metal, and fuse it near the battery. Fix the box down so speed breakers cannot shift it. A closed boot gets hot in summer, so leave the amplifier room to breathe.

Damping the boot floor and rear panel reduces rattles; our sound damping guide shows how. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Price and where to buy

The PW10D4 has an India MRP of ₹18,000. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the PW10D4 product page. Recoil's warranty terms are written for the US, so confirm the India terms with Recoil or its distributor before you order.

The bottom line

Of the three Echo Pro PW subwoofers from 10 to 15 inches, the PW10D4 asks for the least room and the least amplifier power: a 233 mm cut-out, 148 mm of mounting depth and 600 W RMS. Its numbers rest on Recoil's own pages, with no owner feedback to test them against.

Recoil PW10D4 FAQ

Is the Recoil PW10D4 600 W or 1,200 W?

It is rated 600 W RMS. The 1,200 W in the product name is the peak rating, which Recoil Audio USA labels MAX. Size the amplifier by the RMS figure and set the gain with a test tone.

Which amplifier suits the PW10D4?

Look for a mono amplifier that lists close to 600 W RMS at 2 ohm. The Alpine S2-A60M lists 600 W and the Deaf Bonce MFA-1.800 lists 570 W at 2 ohm, both at 14.4 V.

Will the Recoil PW10D4 fit a small boot?

It needs a 233 mm cut-out and 148 mm of mounting depth, less than the PW12D4's 283 mm and 163.5 mm. It is still not a shallow driver, so measure the boot and the box you plan before ordering.
