Recoil RCX694 Review: 6x9 Coaxials Rated 70 W RMS per Pair, Specs and Fitting Notes
The Recoil RCX694 is a pair of 6x9-inch two-way coaxial speakers from Recoil's Echo series, rated at 70 W RMS and 140 W peak for the pair, with a polypropylene cone, butyl rubber surrounds and a PEI dome tweeter that has a built-in crossover. Its Indian MRP is ₹9,000, the highest of the four Echo Series coaxials we list and well below the Echo Pro RX69 at ₹17,000. It suits a buyer replacing worn 6x9 speakers who will run them on head-unit power or a modest amplifier. You can see the pair on our Recoil RCX694 product page.

Quick summary
The number to size an amplifier by is 70 W RMS for the pair. The 140 W figure is the peak rating and is not RMS.
Recoil publishes no impedance, sensitivity, frequency response, mounting depth or cut-out for this model, so measure your car before ordering.
It is a plain two-way coaxial: one pair of wires per speaker, with the crossover already built in.
Recoil's page shows no reviews and we found no independent ones, so the specifications are all there is to go on.

These figures come from our listing and from Recoil's RCX694 page, which agree. Recoil's page also prints a weight and a box-style size, but it does not label the size as a mounting depth, so we do not quote it.
What 70 W RMS means for a pair of 6x9s
Both Recoil and our listing give 70 W RMS and 140 W peak, and both are for the pair. Shared equally, that is 35 W RMS for each speaker. RMS is the continuous rating, so it is the one to match an amplifier to; peak only describes short bursts. Recoil's own speaker buying guide tells readers to put RMS ahead of peak, although it is promotional and names no model.
The rating is lower than the size suggests. The round 6.5-inch Recoil RCX65 is rated at 100 W RMS per pair, so a 6x9 is not automatically the Echo coaxial that takes more power. If you add an amplifier, look for roughly 35 W RMS per channel, set the gain with a test tone and use a high-pass filter so the ferrite motor is not asked for deep bass. Our guide to why a car needs an amplifier covers the basics.
Because no sensitivity is published, we cannot say how loud the RCX694 plays from a head unit. Recoil lists no impedance either, so confirm it with Recoil or the distributor before wiring to an amplifier that is only rated at particular loads.
Does a 6x9 suit your car?
Not every car has a 6x9 position, and a 6x9 will not drop into a round 6.5-inch opening. Check what your car actually has before you buy. Recoil gives no cut-out or mounting depth for the RCX694, so measure the opening, the space behind it and the clearance for the magnet and any grille.
The cone and surround materials are sensible for a car that bakes in summer and sits through a monsoon. Polypropylene shrugs off damp, and rubber surrounds do not perish the way foam ones can. Recoil publishes no weather or lifespan rating, though, so treat that as general good sense rather than a promise.
What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil RCX694
When we checked in October 2026 we found no owner reviews or independent tests of the RCX694. Recoil's own product page shows zero reviews. Some forum and retailer search pages we tried were blocked or returned errors, so write-ups may exist that we could not see.
The nearest feedback is about other Echo coaxials, not this one. Recoil's page for the RCX65 carries one five-star customer review from July 2022 describing loud, clear daily use at 50 W RMS per speaker. Its RCX4 page has one five-star review from January 2023 about a boombox build. Both sit on Recoil's own web store, so they are not independent, and neither covers the RCX694. If you own the RCX694, leave a comment with your car, your amplifier and what you hear.
Recoil RCX694 vs RX69 and RCX65
The Echo Pro Recoil RX69 (₹17,000 MRP) is the other 6x9 coaxial among the Echo, Echo Plus and Echo Pro models we list. Recoil lists it at 90 W RMS and 180 W peak, which is higher than the RCX694 whether those figures are per pair or per speaker, because Recoil's page does not say which. It also publishes 87 dB sensitivity, a 50 Hz to 20 kHz response and a 4 ohm impedance, none of which are published for the RCX694. The RX69 uses a fibreglass composite cone and a silk dome tweeter; the RCX694 uses polypropylene and PEI. The gap is ₹8,000 at MRP.
If your car takes a round 6.5-inch speaker instead, the Echo RCX65 (₹6,000 MRP) is ₹3,000 cheaper at MRP, is rated at 100 W RMS per pair and has a published mounting depth of 64 mm / 71 mm. Choose by the opening your car has, not by the rating.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the RCX694 if you have a 6x9 opening to fill, want a simple coaxial for head-unit power or a small amplifier, and are happy to measure the opening and depth yourself.
Look elsewhere if you need sensitivity, frequency response or mounting depth in writing before you commit, if your car has 6.5-inch openings, or if you plan to drive the pair hard from a large amplifier. A 70 W RMS pair leaves little room for that.
Installation notes for Indian cars
A thin plastic opening will buzz under any 6x9 that is asked for real bass. Mount the speaker on a firm ring or baffle, seal the gap to the panel with foam, and damp the metal behind it; our sound damping guide explains how. If the pair goes on a rear shelf, remember that the shelf takes direct sun through the glass, so check that any foam or adhesive you use will tolerate the heat.
If your car has no clean 6x9 position, VA3 Car Studio builds speaker pods and door baffles, and offers professional installation in Ghaziabad. Our guide to the best car speakers under 10,000 INR explains coaxial against component sets and power matching in general terms, without mentioning Recoil.
Price and where to buy
The Recoil RCX694 has an India MRP of ₹9,000. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the RCX694 product page, which lists it as a genuine Recoil product. Recoil's published warranty is written for the US and says blown or burned voice coils are not manufacturing defects. Confirm the India terms with Recoil or its distributor before you order.
The bottom line
The RCX694 is a plain 6x9 coaxial with a modest 70 W RMS rating and a short list of published figures. Its case rests on fit rather than data: it fills a 6x9 opening, at ₹9,000 MRP. With no owner feedback to say how it sounds, buy it knowing the spec but not the sound, and look at the RX69 if you want a fuller datasheet.
Recoil RCX694 FAQ
What is the Recoil RCX694's power rating?
It is rated 70 W RMS and 140 W peak for the pair. The RMS figure is the continuous rating to size an amplifier by; the peak figure is not RMS.
Does the Recoil RCX694 need an amplifier?
No, but a small amplifier gives more headroom than a head unit. Recoil publishes no sensitivity, so we cannot say how loud it plays on head-unit power. Look for about 35 W RMS per channel.
Is the RCX694 a coaxial or a component set?
It is a two-way coaxial. The PEI dome tweeter is built into the speaker with its own crossover, so there are no separate crossover boxes to mount, and one pair of wires feeds each speaker.
How does the RCX694 differ from the RX69?
Both are 6x9 coaxials. The RX69 is an Echo Pro model with higher listed ratings (90 W RMS, 180 W peak) and published sensitivity and frequency response; it costs ₹8,000 more at MRP.
