AudioControl EPIC4000 Review: Specifications, Installation and Comparisons
Quick summary: the buying decision
The EPIC4000 is a 1-ohm-stable Class D monoblock from AudioControl's EPIC series: 1,000 W RMS at 4 ohm, 2,000 W RMS at 2 ohm and 4,000 W RMS at 1 ohm. It includes an ACR-E remote bass knob and EPIC Boost bass EQ, and it takes line-level inputs, so a factory head unit needs a line output converter.
AudioControl EPIC4000: what it is
The AudioControl EPIC4000 is a competition-grade Class D monoblock amplifier, stable down to 1 ohm and rated at 1,000 W RMS at 4 ohm, 2,000 W RMS at 2 ohm and 4,000 W RMS at 1 ohm. It is built with oversized components and advanced thermal management for sustained high output.
EPIC monoblocks share 12 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley low-pass (40 to 180 Hz) and subsonic (off to 50 Hz) filters, EPIC Boost (30 to 80 Hz, 0 to 12 dB), an Epicenter Link for AudioControl's The Epicenter bass restoration processor, smart auto-reset protection and an included ACR-E remote. The EPIC4000 is the competition model of the range.

Key features
12 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley variable low-pass (40 – 180 Hz) and subsonic (off to 50 Hz) filters
EPIC Boost variable-frequency bass EQ: 30 – 80 Hz, 0 to +12 dB
Epicenter Link harness included for The Epicenter bass restoration processor (sold separately), with 1 A fuse protection
ACR-E remote level control included; smart auto-reset protection circuit
Installation needs two 0-gauge power and two 0-gauge ground wires, each power wire fused at 200 A within 12 in of the battery
Specifications explained
Rated power at 14.4 V is 1,000 W at 4 ohm, 2,000 W at 2 ohm and 4,000 W at 1 ohm. AudioControl quotes a frequency response of 10 Hz – 190 Hz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 104.8 dBA (ref. 1,000 W at 4 ohm).
Line-level inputs accept 0.5 – 12 V RMS.

Matching subwoofers and impedance
Decide the final impedance first: power rises as impedance falls, from 1,000 W at 4 ohm to 4,000 W at 1 ohm. It is meant for competition-style systems with several high-power subwoofers; plan the subwoofer wiring, enclosure and electrical system together.
Filters, EPIC Boost and remote
Set the low-pass filter to blend with the front speakers and use the subsonic filter to protect subwoofers, especially in ported boxes. EPIC Boost adds up to 12 dB around a chosen frequency between 30 and 80 Hz; every 3 dB of boost needs twice the power, so use it carefully. The included ACR-E remote adjusts bass level from the driver's seat.
Wiring, fusing and the electrical system
The EPIC4000 needs two 0-gauge power wires and two 0-gauge ground wires, with each power wire fused at 200 A within 12 inches of the battery (or one 400 A fuse, per AudioControl's fuse options). At 4,000 W RMS, the vehicle's charging system matters as much as the amplifier: check the alternator output and battery capacity, and plan upgrades before chasing peak output. The chassis measures 21 x 6.1 x 2.04 in (533 x 155 x 52 mm), excluding connectors.

How it compares

Price and value in India
At the time of writing (October 2026), VA3 Car Studio lists the EPIC4000 at ₹89,240, 15% below the MRP of ₹1,04,990. The EPIC range gives a lot of power per rupee; remember to budget for wiring and, at higher outputs, electrical upgrades. Prices can change, so the product page always shows the current price.
Verdict: who should shortlist the EPIC4000
The EPIC4000 is a competition amplifier: shortlist it only if the subwoofers, enclosure and electrical upgrades are part of the same plan.
Real-world reviews and limitations
We have not yet published a VA3 installation report for the EPIC4000. The figures in this review are AudioControl's published specifications, not our own measurements, and real-world results depend on the installation, the wiring and the tune. If you have used one, we would welcome your feedback.
