Dynaudio Esotan 372 MKII Review: Specifications, Fitment and Comparisons
Quick summary: the buying decision
The Esotan 372 MKII is a 6.5-inch 3-way component speaker system, rated at 150 W RMS / 400 W max and 4 ohm. Separate tweeters can be mounted higher, on the dash or A-pillars, than a coaxial allows, which lifts the stereo image towards ear level; the trade-off is a more involved installation with crossovers to mount.
Dynaudio Esotan 372 MKII: what it is
The Dynaudio Esotan 372 MKII is a 165 mm (6.5-inch) 3-way component speaker system with a pair each of MT171 tweeters, MF171 midranges and MF172 woofers, X372 crossovers and all mounting hardware. Dynaudio improved it over the original in materials, acoustic performance, power handling and durability.
Esotan sits below Esotec and the flagship Esotar² in Dynaudio's car audio range. The Esotan 272 MKII and 372 MKII are the updated MKII component systems, and the Esotan 202 with its optional Esotan MF101 midrange are 2025 additions.

Fitment: will it fit your car?
Measure the factory opening and the depth available behind it, including clearance to the window glass and its channel at full travel. The Esotan 372 MKII needs 67 mm of mounting depth. Spacers or adapter rings are often needed in many cars, and a solid, sealed baffle with door damping makes more difference to midbass than the speaker change alone.
Crossover, filtering and placement
The X372 crossovers have adjustable tweeter level (0 or -2 dB) and midrange level (0 or +2 dB), so you can trim the balance for driver position and car acoustics.
Mount the tweeters on the dash or A-pillars and aim them across the car towards the opposite seat as a starting point, then adjust by listening. Keep the woofer in a sealed, damped door.
Amplification
Rated at 150 W RMS (400 W max) into 4 ohm with 86 dB sensitivity (2.83 V / 1 m), the set benefits from a good amplifier; AudioControl's D-4.800 (4 x 125 W at 4 ohm) also adds the DSP to time-align and equalise it.
