Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15 Review: The 15-Sheet 2.1 mm Damping Pack for Whole-Car Jobs

Oct 7
5 min read

The Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15 is a 2.1 mm, triple-layer damping mat made of adhesive, butyl and aluminium, sold as a pack of 15 sheets measuring 460 x 800 mm. Its Indian MRP is ₹19,990, and 15 sheets is the largest pack among the Acudamp products we list. That makes it the one to look at when you want to treat doors, boot floor and other panels in a single job rather than one area at a time. You can see it on our Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15 product page.

Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15 damping mat pack

Quick summary

  • 2.1 mm triple-layer sheet: adhesive, butyl and aluminium, listed for noise and vibration control and thermal insulation.

  • Our listing describes the same thickness, layers and sheet size as the 10-sheet MAT 221.10; we found no source explaining what else separates them.

  • Mass per square metre, loss factor and working temperature aren't published in any source we could read, and we found no owner reviews.

What kind of damping this is

Car audio sound treatment does three different jobs. Dampers stop thin metal panels from ringing. Barriers block airborne noise with mass. Absorbers soak up sound inside a cavity. A butyl layer with an aluminium skin, which is how our listing describes this mat, belongs to the first group: it bonds to the panel, adds mass and stiffness, and turns the panel's vibration into a little heat instead of noise.

For a speaker upgrade, that is the treatment that matters most. A door skin that resonates colours the midbass and adds buzzes, and damping it gives the woofer a more solid baffle to work against. It won't turn a car into a sealed studio, though; road and tyre noise travelling through the air need mass and barriers as well.

Where fifteen sheets go

A typical first job treats the front doors, both the outer skin behind the speaker and the inner skin, so the speaker has a solid, sealed baffle. With 15 sheets, the same pack can extend to the rear doors and the boot floor or spare-wheel well, where a subwoofer's output excites the metal most. Our guide on how to apply sound damping properly explains the order of work.

Exactly how far 15 sheets go depends on the car and on how much of each panel you cover, and no coverage figure is published for this pack, so plan by counting panels rather than square metres.

MAT 121.15 or MAT 221.10?

On paper, the two look alike. Our listings give the Morel Acudamp MAT 221.10 the same 2.1 mm thickness, the same adhesive, butyl and aluminium layers and the same 460 x 800 mm sheet, in a pack of 10 at ₹14,990. The MAT 121.15 adds five sheets for ₹5,000 more at MRP.

The model numbers differ in their first digit, though, and we found no Morel document or overseas listing that explains what that means, because the MAT 121.15 doesn't appear outside our store. If the material matters to you beyond sheet count, ask us before choosing.

What owners and reviewers say about the Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15

We found no owner or professional reviews of the MAT 121.15 when we checked in October 2026, and no listing for it outside our store. The closest feedback is general. On Team-BHP's damping thread, a member in January 2025 suggested buying Morel sheets from a trusted online source when on offer for the best value, and said Morel sheets line the rear and boot of their own car; they didn't name the model. On HiFiVision, an Indian owner named the sibling MAT 221.10 as the damping they bought, without describing the result. If you've used the MAT 121.15, we'd welcome your experience.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy it if you're planning a larger damping job, such as all four doors plus the boot, and want one pack of the thinner 2.1 mm Acudamp sheet to do it.

Skip it if you're only treating the front doors for a speaker upgrade, where a smaller pack may be enough, or if you want the thicker MAT 227.8 sheet or the four-layer MAT 345.5 for floors.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Clean every panel of dust and oil before fitting, cut sheets to shape, and press them down firmly with a roller so the butyl bonds without air pockets. Keep door drain holes at the bottom of the door clear, and leave window channels and moving parts untouched. No working temperature range is published in the sources we could read, so don't assume how the adhesive will behave on a panel that bakes in the sun; fitting in the shade on clean metal gives it the best start.

VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, and builds door baffles and speaker pods if you're upgrading speakers at the same time.

Price and where to buy

The Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15 has an MRP of ₹19,990 for 15 sheets. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the MAT 121.15 product page. Our cheaper guide to damping sheets under ₹1,000 covers budget alternatives. Everything we sell is a genuine Morel product.

The bottom line

The Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15 is the biggest Acudamp pack we list: 15 sheets of 2.1 mm adhesive, butyl and aluminium mat for a whole-car damping job. What's missing is outside information, from coverage and temperature figures to reviews, and an explanation of how it differs from the MAT 221.10. If sheet count is what you need, it delivers that; for anything finer, ask us first.

Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15 FAQ

How many sheets are in the Morel Acudamp MAT 121.15?

Fifteen. Each sheet measures 460 x 800 mm and is 2.1 mm thick, with adhesive, butyl and aluminium layers, according to our listing.

Is the MAT 121.15 the same as the MAT 221.10?

Our listings describe the same thickness, layers and sheet size, with 15 sheets in the MAT 121.15 against 10 in the MAT 221.10. We found no source explaining what the different series number means, so ask us if that matters to you.

Where should I use it in the car?

It is a damping mat for metal panels: door skins first, then rear doors, the boot floor and the spare-wheel well. It stops panels resonating rather than blocking airborne road noise on its own.
