Morel IP HYU62 Review: Hyundai DirectFit Component Set with Separate Tweeters

Oct 7
6 min read

The Morel IP HYU62 is a 6.5-inch two-way component speaker set from Morel's Integration Performance (DirectFit) range, built to replace the factory speakers in selected Hyundai models using plug-and-play wiring adapters. Our listing rates it at 90 W RMS (180 W peak), 92 dB sensitivity at 2.83 V and a 50 Hz – 20 kHz response. At ₹15,990 MRP it costs more than the IP HYU5C, and unlike Morel's IP HYU5C and IP-HYU6C coaxials it uses separate tweeters. It suits Hyundai owners who want a better front stage than a coaxial can give while keeping the factory wiring intact. You can see today's price on our IP HYU62 product page.

Morel IP HYU62 6.5-inch DirectFit component speaker set for Hyundai with separate tweeters

Quick summary

  • A component set: separate soft dome tweeters and 6.5-inch woofers, so the tweeters can sit higher than a coaxial's for a better stereo image.

  • 92 dB sensitivity in our listing suits head-unit power, and the 90 W RMS rating leaves room for an amplifier later.

  • Vehicle-specific wiring adapters connect to the factory wiring without cutting.

  • No owner reviews yet, and one UK retailer shows a conflicting spec block that looks like a template.

Figures are from our store listing, and UK retailer Thomas Performance quotes the same power, sensitivity and response with a 4 Ω impedance. We could not reach Morel's own page when we checked in October 2026. Another UK retailer, Car Audio Centre, shows 80 W RMS, 88 dB and 45 Hz – 20 kHz with a 4.8 cm mounting depth, but the identical block appears on its other Morel DirectFit listings, so we treat it as a template rather than data.

Why choose a component set for a Hyundai

A coaxial puts the tweeter in the middle of the woofer, usually low in the door. A component set separates them, so the tweeter can sit closer to ear level, which lifts the stereo image towards the dashboard. That is the main reason to pick the IP HYU62 over Morel's 6.5-inch IP-HYU6C coaxial.

The DirectFit catch is that the tweeter needs somewhere to go. Neither our listing nor the retail pages we read explain how the tweeter mounts or which locations it uses, so before choosing the component set, find out whether your Hyundai has factory tweeter positions; ask us to check fitment if you're unsure. If it doesn't, VA3 Car Studio builds custom tweeter pods. Component sets also need a crossover to split the signal between woofer and tweeter, and Thomas Performance lists this set with an inline crossover, which keeps the wiring compact.

Head-unit power or an amplifier?

On factory power, sensitivity is the figure that matters. Our listing puts the IP HYU62 at 92 dB, against 89.5 dB for the IP HYU5C on the same 2.83 V basis, so from the same head unit it plays about 2.5 dB louder. That makes it a reasonable match for a factory or aftermarket head unit at everyday levels.

The 90 W RMS rating is headroom for later. When a head unit runs out of clean power it clips, and tweeters are usually the first to suffer, so that's the time to add an amplifier. Two Morel options with speaker-level inputs for a factory head unit are the MDSP 6/4A, at 25 W RMS x 4 in our listing, and the MDSP 8/4A, at 80 W RMS x 4, which stays under this set's 90 W rating. Both include DSP with input, output and global EQ, tuned through Morel's software or app; our article on why car audio systems need a DSP explains what that tuning can fix.

Thomas Performance says the set works with factory amplification and scales with an aftermarket amplifier or DSP; that's retailer copy, so read it as promotional. If your Hyundai has a separate factory amplifier or a branded premium system, nothing we read says how the IP HYU62 behaves with it, so mention it when you ask about fitment.

What owners and reviewers say about the Morel IP HYU62

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews or professional tests of this set. UK retailers Thomas Performance and Car Audio Centre both list it, but neither page had a customer review, and Thomas Performance describes it as new for 2026, which likely explains the silence.

Their descriptions are sales copy, not reviews, so we won't dress them up as a verdict. If you've fitted an IP HYU62 to your Hyundai, we'd welcome a note on how the tweeters fitted and how it sounds.

Morel IP HYU62 vs IP-HYU6C, IP TOY62 and Maximo 6 MKIII

The IP-HYU6C is the simpler Hyundai choice: a 6.5-inch coaxial with no tweeter to place, at the cost of the higher tweeter position. If your openings take 5.25-inch speakers, the IP HYU5C (₹13,490 MRP) is the coaxial to look at.

For Toyota owners, the IP TOY62 carries the same 90 W RMS, 92 dB and 50 Hz – 20 kHz figures in our listings at ₹17,490 MRP, so between the two the choice follows the car. The universal Maximo 6 MKIII is also rated at 90 W RMS and 92 dB in our listing, quoted from 60 Hz to 22 kHz, and its ₹12,490 MRP is ₹3,500 lower. Our listing shows no vehicle-specific adapters for it, though, so expect mounting rings and connectors in most installs.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the IP HYU62 if your Hyundai is on Morel's fitment list, you want separate tweeters for a better image, and you're happy to start on head-unit power and add an amplifier later.

Look elsewhere if you want the quickest possible swap with nothing extra to mount (the IP-HYU6C), your openings take 5.25-inch speakers (the IP HYU5C), or your car isn't covered, in which case a universal set such as the Maximo 6 MKIII makes more sense. And if you want proven owner feedback first, there isn't any yet.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Damp the doors while the trim is off. A 6.5-inch woofer in a thin, buzzing door loses midbass and gains rattles, and Indian roads expose every loose panel; our guide to applying sound damping properly covers the method. Wherever the crossover ends up, keep it out of the door's wet zone, since water and dust run down inside the door in the monsoon, and tie it down so it can't rattle.

Aim the tweeters across the cabin towards the opposite seat; that usually gives a more even image for both front occupants. Route tweeter wires away from vents and sharp metal edges. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, and we build tweeter pods where a car has no factory tweeter location.

Price and where to buy

The Morel IP HYU62 carries an MRP of ₹15,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the IP HYU62 product page. Every set we sell is a genuine Morel product.

Morel IP HYU62 - another view

The bottom line

The IP HYU62 brings a proper component layout to Hyundai owners without cutting factory wiring: separate soft dome tweeters, 92 dB sensitivity for head-unit power and a 90 W RMS rating that welcomes an amplifier later. What it lacks today is owner feedback, and the tweeter location in your particular car is the question to settle before you buy. Settle it, and it makes sense if imaging matters more to you than the simplest install.

Morel IP HYU62 FAQ

Does the Morel IP HYU62 fit my Hyundai?

Morel makes it for selected Hyundai models with plug-and-play wiring adapters, but our listing and the retail pages we read don't name the models. Give us your model and year and ask us to check fitment, including whether your car has factory tweeter positions.

Can the IP HYU62 run on a factory head unit?

Yes. Its 92 dB sensitivity in our listing should be enough for everyday listening on head-unit power. An amplifier such as Morel's MDSP 8/4A, at 80 W RMS x 4, adds clean headroom while staying under the 90 W RMS rating.

What is the difference between the IP HYU62 and the IP-HYU6C?

The IP HYU62 is a component set with separate tweeters, which can be mounted higher for a better stereo image. The IP-HYU6C is a 6.5-inch coaxial with the tweeter built into the woofer, which is simpler to install.

Is the IP HYU62 the same as the IP TOY62?

Our listings give both the same power, sensitivity and response figures. The IP TOY62 is made for selected Toyota models and carries a ₹17,490 MRP; the IP HYU62 is for selected Hyundai models at ₹15,990.
