Morel IR-BMW 4INT Review: Morel's Reference Point-Source Speaker for BMW

Oct 7
6 min read

The Morel IR-BMW 4INT is a 4-inch (100 mm) Integra point-source speaker from Morel's Integration Reference range for BMW, with a 28 mm Acuflex silk-dome tweeter mounted concentrically in a woofer driven by a 2.1-inch voice coil and Morel's hybrid EVC motor. Morel rates it at 80 W RMS (250 W maximum), 90 dB at 2.83 V and 80 Hz – 25 kHz. Its Indian MRP is ₹84,990, between the Performance-series IP-BMW 42C coaxial and the ₹1,09,990 IR-BMW 42 component set. It suits BMW owners who want one Reference-grade driver per position, powered by an aftermarket amplifier and DSP. Our Morel IR-BMW 4INT product page carries the current price.

Morel IR-BMW 4INT 4-inch Integra point-source DirectFit speaker for BMW

Quick summary

  • A one-piece Reference speaker for BMW: Morel says its Integra point-source geometry gives smooth, natural sound in any seat through the crossover region.

  • Double the IP-BMW 42C's RMS rating (80 W against 40 W), with a larger 28 mm Acuflex tweeter in place of a 20.3 mm dome.

  • One connecting cable from the factory plug and no separate crossover boxes in the kit, according to Morel's guide.

  • No owner reviews found, and some retailers list it with the wrong figures; Morel's sheet is the reference here.

One driver, Reference parts

Morel says this speaker is based on its Hybrid Integra series, the line behind the 6.5-inch Morel Hybrid Integra 62 we also sell. The tweeter is mounted concentrically at the centre of the woofer, so both drivers play from one point. Morel's sheet says this eliminates phase errors and improves coherence, and its 2023 press release, which is promotional, adds that the geometry keeps the sound smooth and natural in any seating position through the crossover region.

The parts match the Reference billing. The 28 mm Acuflex dome has its own dual neodymium motor, and the woofer combines a 2.1-inch voice coil with Morel's EVC motor, which Morel credits with high power handling, cone control and low distortion. Morel's sheet describes the cone as special composite paper to reduce break-up, and the guide lists it as composite cellular fibre.

Wiring, positions and power

On Morel's guide, the Integra is the simpler install of the two Reference BMW kits. Its diagram runs a connecting cable from the factory wire connector straight to the speaker's input, and the parts list has no crossover boxes or tweeter brackets. The speaker mounts in either a trim panel or a door, using adapter configurations A to D, so ask us to check fitment for your car.

Morel's sheet says it is designed for amplifier and DSP upgrades. Morel's MDSP 8/4A is rated at 80 W RMS x 4 into 4 Ω in our listing, matching this speaker's rating, and includes a high-level input harness for the factory signal. We explain the case for processing in our article on why car audio systems need DSP, and VA3 Car Studio offers DSP tuning.

What owners and reviewers say about the Morel IR-BMW 4INT

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner or reviewer opinions of this speaker. OnlineCarStereo in the US showed no reviews, and neither did Thomas Performance in the UK. Thomas Performance also lists it with 100 W RMS, 92 dB and 50 – 25,000 Hz, which are the component set's figures; Morel's own sheet says 80 W, 90 dB and 80 – 25,000 Hz.

The only hands-on account we found is a Crutchfield install story from August 2026 about Morel's cheaper Performance-series BMW kits, not this one. It is retailer content about an employee's car, in which the IP-BMW4C coaxial filled the rear positions. It shows the DirectFit method working with factory screws and harness plugs, but its owner impressions belong to that Performance system. If you own an IR-BMW 4INT, we would like to hear how it sounds.

How it compares: IP-BMW 42C, IR-BMW 42 and IR MBZ4INT

The Morel IP-BMW 42C is the Performance-series one-driver option at ₹39,990: 40 W RMS, 120 W maximum, 89 dB and 80 Hz – 22 kHz, with a 20.3 mm soft dome, and designed to work on factory or moderate amplifier power. This speaker doubles the RMS rating, adds 1 dB at the same test voltage and uses the larger Acuflex tweeter, at more than twice the MRP.

The Morel IR-BMW 42 shares the same guide but adds separate tweeters and crossovers: 100 W RMS, 92 dB and 50 Hz – 25 kHz for ₹1,09,990. Choose it if your car has tweeter positions you want to use.

The Morel IR MBZ4INT is the Mercedes-Benz counterpart, with the same 80 W, 250 W and 90 dB ratings and the same ₹84,990 MRP, though its sheet quotes the top end at 20 kHz.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy it if you want a single driver per position with Reference-tier parts, you are adding an amplifier and DSP, and you like the idea of fewer components behind the trim.

Look elsewhere if you will stay on the factory amplifier, where Morel points buyers to its Performance series, including the IP-BMW 42C, or if your car has tweeter positions you want to use, where the IR-BMW 42 makes better use of them. Quoted down to 80 Hz, it needs a subwoofer for real bass.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Morel's press release says the three brackets in each BMW kit attach with three screws, and the guide's parts list includes three adapter types, gaskets, connecting cables and installation tools. Use the gaskets where the guide's configuration calls for them; they help the speaker seal against its mount.

With no crossover boxes to hide, there is less loose hardware to rattle on rough roads, but secure the connecting cables anyway. If the speaker goes in a door, damping the panel while it is open helps; our sound damping guide explains how. If you would rather not do it yourself, VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad can install it.

Morel IR-BMW 4INT - another view

The bottom line

This is Morel's Reference point-source speaker for BMW: a concentric Acuflex tweeter and EVC woofer in one DirectFit unit, with simpler wiring than the component set and twice the rating of the Performance coaxial. Morel designs it for an amplifier and DSP. We found no owner feedback yet, and some retailer listings carry the wrong figures, so go by Morel's sheet.

Morel IR-BMW 4INT FAQ

Is the Morel IR-BMW 4INT a coaxial speaker?

It has a tweeter mounted in the woofer like a coaxial, but Morel calls it an Integra point-source design, with the tweeter mounted concentrically at the woofer's centre. Morel says this eliminates phase errors and improves coherence.

What amplifier power suits the IR-BMW 4INT?

Morel's sheet says it is designed for amplifier and DSP upgrades and rates it at 80 W RMS, so an amplifier of around that output per channel suits it. For factory amplifier power, Morel's press release points to its Performance series, which includes the IP-BMW 42C coaxial.

How does it compare with the IP-BMW 42C?

Both are one-driver BMW speakers. The IR-BMW 4INT is rated at 80 W RMS and 90 dB with a 28 mm Acuflex tweeter, against the IP-BMW 42C's 40 W, 89 dB and 20.3 mm dome, and its MRP is more than twice as high.

Which BMWs can it be fitted to?

Morel says its DirectFit adapters fit all modern BMW models, and the guide points to a QR code for vehicle-specific compatibility instead of listing models. Ask us to check fitment for your specific car before you buy.
