Morel PSL10AE Review: The 10-Inch Powered Box, Its Controls and Its Footprint

Oct 7
5 min read

The Morel PSL10AE is the 10-inch active (powered) subwoofer enclosure in Morel's Primo SL AE line: a 10-inch (250 mm) driver and a built-in 350 W RMS amplifier in a carpeted box 165 mm high, 338 mm wide and 460 mm long. It has high- and low-level inputs, tri-mode turn-on and an included remote level controller. Its Indian MRP is ₹49,990, ₹5,000 above the 8-inch PSL8AE, which makes it the larger and dearer of the two Morel active enclosures we list. It suits owners who want 10-inch bass with one box to install and no separate amplifier. See today's offer on our Morel PSL10AE product page.

Morel PSL10AE 10-inch active subwoofer enclosure with built-in amplifier

Key takeaways

  • A 10-inch driver and a 350 W RMS amplifier in one 165 mm-tall box that can fire down, fire up or stand vertically.

  • Morel's datasheet lists a 20 Hz to 300 Hz response and a 10 to 16 V operating range; our listing differs on both, and we follow Morel.

  • Gain, a 50 to 200 Hz low-pass and 0 to 6 dB of bass boost at 45 Hz on board, plus an included remote.

  • It's a 2026 model and we found no owner reviews yet.

Figures come from Morel's Primo SL AE datasheet, read through UK retailer Celsus ICE because Morel's website returned an error each time we tried it in October 2026. Our store listing gives the response as 20 Hz to 200 Hz and the operating voltage as 10 to 17 V; Morel's figures are the ones above.

What the 10-inch adds over the PSL8AE

Both Primo SL AE models share the 350 W RMS rating, the controls, the inputs, the tri-mode turn-on and the included remote, according to Morel's datasheet. The PSL10AE's differences are the larger cone, a listed response that reaches 300 Hz instead of 200 Hz, and a bigger box: 12 mm wider and 40 mm longer, at the same 165 mm height.

In practice the extra upper range matters little, because the low-pass filter tops out at 200 Hz on both. The reason to choose the 10-inch is cone area, which moves more air for the same excursion. If the larger footprint fits, it's the one to pick; if every centimetre counts, the 8-inch is the fallback.

Setting the crossover, boost and gain

Start with the bass boost at zero and the low-pass around the point where your door speakers begin to run out of bass, often somewhere near 80 Hz with factory speakers. Raise the gain until the sub blends at your normal listening level, then use the included remote for day-to-day changes instead of reaching for the gain again.

The boost is centred at 45 Hz and goes up to 6 dB. Use it sparingly: boost plus high gain asks a lot of any amplifier, and it's the quickest way to make bass boomy. Morel's datasheet doesn't list a phase control, so if the bass seems weak at the driver's seat, try turning the box or changing its orientation before adding boost.

Inputs and turn-on for factory systems

The high-level input accepts 0.2 to 9 V from factory speaker wiring, and the low-level input accepts 0.1 to 4.5 V from an aftermarket head unit or processor. Tri-mode turn-on means you can run a remote lead or let signal sensing or DC-offset detection switch the amplifier on, which helps with factory touchscreen units that have no remote output. If you add a DSP later, VA3 Car Studio offers DSP tuning to integrate the sub.

Placement: down, up or vertical

Morel designed the enclosure to work firing down, firing up or standing vertically, with removable feet fitted with Velcro pads. Its power and audio terminals disconnect easily, so it can come out for a long trip with full luggage. At 460 mm long and 165 mm tall, measure your boot in each orientation before ordering; we don't promise fit for any particular car.

What owners and reviewers say about the Morel PSL10AE

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews or press tests of the PSL10AE. Morel announced the Primo SL AE in March 2026, and the coverage we found was its reproduced launch release on EMMA, which is promotional and presents the line for cars where conventional subwoofers won't fit. The Celsus ICE listing in the UK had no customer reviews.

There's no owner consensus to report yet. If you run a PSL10AE, we'd like to hear where you mounted it and how it has worked.

Morel PSL10AE vs PSL8AE, PSL 104 and PS 104D

The Morel PSL8AE (₹44,990 MRP) is the 8-inch version, at 165 x 326 x 420 mm with a listed 20 Hz to 200 Hz response. Choose it when the 10-inch box won't fit.

To build your own instead, the passive Morel PSL 104 (₹22,990 MRP) is a 10-inch Primo SL sub that needs 89 mm of depth. Paired with Morel's MPD 5.550 (₹32,990 MRP), whose subwoofer channel makes 250 W into 4 ohms, the parts come to ₹55,980 at MRP before the box, but the amplifier also powers four door speakers. For higher power handling in a slim passive sub, the Ultimo PS 104D (₹84,990 MRP) is rated at 700 W RMS and Morel publishes its box volumes.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the PSL10AE if you want 10-inch bass with a single box, factory-friendly inputs and a remote, and you can spare a 338 x 460 mm footprint.

Look elsewhere if space is tighter (the PSL8AE), you're planning a fully amplified system with a separate sub and amplifier, or you want owner reviews before buying.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Strap the enclosure down or use the Velcro feet on firm carpet, so it can't slide under braking or over speed breakers. The datasheet we read doesn't print a fuse rating or cable gauge, so follow the supplied manual, fuse the power cable near the battery, use a clean ground, and grommet the cable through metal. Keep luggage off the box in a hot boot. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Price and where to buy

The Morel PSL10AE has an Indian MRP of ₹49,990. Check current pricing and stock on the PSL10AE listing in our store. Every unit we sell is a genuine Morel product.

Morel PSL10AE - another view

The bottom line

The Morel PSL10AE is a one-box way to add 10-inch bass: a 350 W amplifier, factory-friendly inputs and turn-on, a remote and three mounting orientations. It needs more floor space than the 8-inch, and there's no owner feedback yet. If the footprint fits and you want a simple install, it's the Primo SL AE to choose.

Morel PSL10AE FAQ

What is the difference between the Morel PSL10AE and the PSL8AE?

The PSL10AE has a 10-inch driver, a listed 20 Hz to 300 Hz response and a 165 x 338 x 460 mm box. The PSL8AE has an 8-inch driver and a smaller box. Both have a 350 W RMS amplifier, the same controls and an included remote.

Can the PSL10AE be mounted upright?

Yes. Morel's datasheet says the enclosure is designed to work firing down, firing up or standing vertically, and its removable feet have Velcro pads. Measure your boot in the orientation you plan to use.

Does the PSL10AE need a separate amplifier?

No. It has a built-in 350 W RMS amplifier. It needs a power cable with an in-line fuse, a ground and a signal from the high- or low-level input, and its tri-mode turn-on makes a remote lead optional.
