Morel PSL 104 Review: A 10-Inch Primo SL for 89 mm of Depth

Oct 7
5 min read

The Morel PSL 104 is the 10-inch, 4-ohm model in Morel's Primo SL range of shallow-mount subwoofers, with a mounting depth of 3.5 inches (89 mm). Our listing rates it at 350 W RMS and 700 W peak, with 83 dB sensitivity and a 20 Hz to 800 Hz response. Its Indian MRP is ₹22,990, ₹3,000 more than the 8-inch PSL 84 and a fraction of the 10-inch Ultimo PowerSlim's ₹84,990. It suits buyers who want 10-inch bass from a slim box on a modest budget. See today's offer on our Morel PSL 104 product page.

Morel PSL 104 10-inch Primo SL shallow-mount car subwoofer

Key takeaways

  • A 10-inch sub that needs 89 mm of depth, with a carbon-weave cone, a 2-inch voice coil and a rear-vented motor.

  • Ratings differ between sources: 350 W RMS on our listing, 300 W RMS from a UK retailer.

  • No enclosure volume is published in anything we could read, so the box should follow Morel's manual.

  • It's a 2026 model with no owner reviews yet; the PowerSlim PS 104D is the documented, far dearer alternative.

Ratings, sensitivity, response and terminals come from our store listing; depth and construction come from Morel's launch release as reproduced by EMMA; the 300 W figure is from UK retailer Thomas Performance. Morel's site returned an error each time we tried it in October 2026, so the rating question stays open.

What the 10-inch adds over the PSL 84

Both Primo SL subs share the same recipe in Morel's release: a carbon-weave composite cone, a Uniflow stamped steel chassis, a 2-inch voice coil and a rear-vented motor, and both are said to suit sealed or ported boxes. The 10-inch gives up 9.6 mm of depth to the 8-inch's 79.4 mm, and in return Morel's text, quoted by Thomas Performance, promises greater bass extension, more dynamic headroom and more physical low-frequency impact.

On paper the sensitivity rises from 82 dB to 83 dB, and both sources rate the 10-inch 50 W higher than the 8-inch. If the larger cone and extra depth fit, the 10-inch brings those gains for ₹3,000 more.

Box and placement

We couldn't find a recommended box volume for the PSL 104 in our listing, the UK listing or the launch release, so check the manual that comes with the sub. VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer enclosures, so we can build the box to Morel's volume once it's confirmed and shape it to your car.

A 10-inch in a slim enclosure suits a raised boot floor in an SUV, a thin box against a seat back, or the space behind a pickup's seats. Measure the depth you have, allowing for the box panels as well as the driver's 89 mm.

Amplifier pairing for a 4-ohm 10-inch

With one 4-ohm coil, the amplifier's 4-ohm rating is the one that counts. Because the two power figures disagree, the Hertz DP 1.500 is a safe match: it is rated at 280 W into 4 ohms at 1% distortion, under both figures. Morel's own MPS 1.550 is listed at 350 W into 4 ohms, which equals our listing's rating but exceeds the UK figure, so keep its gain down.

If you'd rather run the whole car from one amplifier, Morel's MPD 5.550 has a 250 W subwoofer channel into 4 ohms plus four 75 W channels, comfortably within either rating. For two PSL 104s wired in parallel at 2 ohms, the MPS 1.550's 550 W works out at about 275 W per sub. Set the gain with a test tone.

What owners and reviewers say about the Morel PSL 104

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews or press tests of the PSL 104. Morel announced the Primo SL range in March 2026, and the Thomas Performance listing had no customer reviews. The reproduced launch release is the only other coverage we found, and it is promotional.

With no owner feedback to report, we won't guess at how it sounds. If you've fitted a PSL 104, we'd like to hear about your box, your amplifier and your results.

Morel PSL 104 vs PSL 84, PS 104D and PSL10AE

The Morel PSL 84 (₹19,990 MRP) is the 8-inch Primo SL at 79.4 mm deep, rated at 300 W RMS on our listing or 250 W in the UK. Choose it only if the 10-inch won't fit.

The Morel Ultimo PS 104D (₹84,990 MRP) is the premium shallow 10-inch. It is about 80 mm deep, has dual 4-ohm coils and a 700 W RMS rating, and Morel publishes its boxes (12.7 litres sealed or 22.7 litres vented). It costs ₹62,000 more. If you don't want a separate amplifier, the Morel PSL10AE (₹49,990 MRP) is a powered 10-inch enclosure with a built-in 350 W amplifier.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the PSL 104 if you want a slim 10-inch Morel sub without PowerSlim money, you have about 300 W into 4 ohms to give it, and you'll have a box built to Morel's volume.

Look elsewhere if you need it shallower than 89 mm (the PS 104D is about 80 mm), you want a ready-made, amplified solution (the PSL10AE), or you'd rather wait for owner feedback.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Fix the enclosure firmly to a false floor or the body so it can't move over speed breakers and broken roads, and leave room for the cone to move if it sits under a panel. Keep the box clear of the spare wheel and any drainage points in the boot floor.

Ventilate the amplifier in a hot boot, fuse its power cable near the battery, and grommet the cable through metal. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, and DSP tuning if the sub is part of a wider system upgrade.

Price and where to buy

Morel PSL 104 - another view

The bottom line

The Morel PSL 104 brings Morel's shallow-sub idea to a much lower price: a 10-inch cone in 89 mm of depth, rated at 300 W or 350 W RMS depending on the source. Box volume and the exact rating still need confirming, and there's no owner track record yet. Pair it with a sensible 4-ohm amplifier channel and a properly built box, and it's a sensible slim 10-inch to start with.

Morel PSL 104 FAQ

What is the difference between the Morel PSL 104 and the PSL 84?

The PSL 104 has a 10-inch cone and needs 89 mm of depth, against the PSL 84's 8-inch cone and 79.4 mm. It lists 83 dB against 82 dB, is rated 50 W higher in both sources, and costs ₹3,000 more at MRP.

Should I choose the PSL 104 or the Ultimo PS 104D?

The PS 104D is shallower at about 80 mm, has dual 4-ohm coils, a 700 W RMS rating and Morel-published box volumes, but costs ₹62,000 more at MRP. The PSL 104 suits smaller budgets and amplifiers.

What amplifier suits the PSL 104?

Something around 300 W into 4 ohms. The Hertz DP 1.500 is rated at 280 W into 4 ohms at 1% distortion, while Morel's MPS 1.550 is listed at 350 W into 4 ohms, so keep its gain down.
