Audison APBMW X4E Review: BMW and Mini Coaxial vs X4M and K4E
The Audison APBMW X4E is a 100 mm (4 in) coaxial speaker from Audison's Prima range for BMW and Mini, rated at 40 W continuous and 80 W peak into 4 ohm. Audison says it is designed for BMW-Mini models that do not allow a two-way system at the front, or for upgrading the rear system. The Indian MRP is ₹49,990. It has a near-twin in the X4M, so this review focuses on the differences, the undefined drawing letters and the K4E and Morel alternatives. See it on our Audison APBMW X4E product page.

Key takeaways
The ratings match the X4M's on Audison's pages: 4 ohm, 40 W continuous, 80 W peak, 88 dB and 100 Hz to 22 kHz.
Audison lists 0.5 kg per speaker against the X4M's 0.4 kg. Five of the six drawn dimensions are larger; D is smaller, at 39 mm against 44.5 mm.
Audison does not define its drawing letters; we report one retailer's reading of them as that retailer's own.
We found no customer reviews for the X4E when we checked in October 2026.

Figures come from Audison's X4E page, its technical datasheet and our listing, which calls the 39 mm figure the mounting depth.
Reading Audison's X4E drawing
Audison's page and datasheet print six dimensions for the X4E (A, A3, B, C, D and U) and define none of them. The Finnish retailer Audiokauppa reads them as the outer diameter (119 mm), the width with lugs (143 mm), the mounting-hole diameter (100 mm), the tweeter-to-motor depth (67.5 mm), the surface-to-motor depth (39 mm) and the span across the mounting holes (129.5 mm). That agrees with our listing's mounting depth, but neither is an Audison statement. Clearance behind a panel varies by car, so ask us to check it, and fitment, before you order.
Audison APBMW X4E vs X4M in short
Set against the X4M, the X4E has the same ratings but is 0.1 kg heavier and larger on five of the six drawn dimensions. Audison does not explain E and M, and neither product page mentions the other. OnlineCarStereo labels its X4M page Small Basket, and a search listing for its X4E page reads Large Basket. The figures fit, but Audison uses neither term and does not say which cars take which. Our X4M review has the full table.
Coaxial or two-way: Audison APBMW X4E vs K4E
The X4E is a coaxial: its 24 mm tweeter is part of the same unit as the woofer, and Audison's pages describe no crossover. Audison's APBMW K4E is a two-way kit with a separate 29 mm tweeter and a crossover, at the same ₹49,990 MRP. Audison positions the K kits for upgrading models with factory two-way systems.
Specification | Audison APBMW X4E | Audison APBMW K4E |
|---|---|---|
Type | Coaxial | Two-way component kit |
Tweeter | 24 mm Tetolon dome, 20 mm voice coil | 29 mm Tetolon dome, 25 mm voice coil, with tweeter support |
Crossover | None described by Audison | High-pass 6 kHz at 6 dB per octave, level -3 dB or 0 dB |
Power handling | 40 W continuous / 80 W peak | 50 W continuous / 100 W peak |
Frequency response | 100 Hz - 22 kHz | 90 Hz - 23 kHz |
Sensitivity | 88 dB | Woofer 88 dB, tweeter 90 dB |
The K4E's sensitivity is split between woofer and tweeter, so do not read the rows as a ranking. The K4E also has a near-twin, the APBMW K4M. For bass below the X4E's 100 Hz floor, Audison lists the APBMW S8, an 8-inch subwoofer for BMW-Mini with a published response from 40 Hz; ask us whether your car suits it.
What owners and reviewers say about the Audison APBMW X4E
We found no customer reviews for the X4E when we checked in October 2026. Neither OnlineCarStereo nor Audiokauppa shows any, and the OnlineCarStereo page for the related X4M shows none either.
A September 2021 BestCarAudio spotlight is labelled as a sponsored post, so we treat it as promotional. It has no measurements, describes the X4E only briefly, as a 4-inch coaxial with a 24 mm tweeter, and says the range is designed for efficient operation with small to moderately powered amplifiers. The only customer comment we found is an undated review on a UK retailer's MINI door-speaker upgrade kit built from Audison Prima speakers. It calls the kit a big step up from the base speakers without extra amplification, but the page does not name the Audison model, so it may not be the X4E. If you own one, tell us how it sounds in your car.
Audison APBMW X4E vs the Morel IR-BMW 4INT
Morel's IR-BMW 4INT is a 4-inch point-source speaker for BMW rated at 80 W RMS and 250 W peak, with 90 dB sensitivity quoted at 2.83 V and 1 m and a response from 80 Hz to 25 kHz. Its MRP is ₹84,990, which is ₹35,000 above the X4E. Morel quotes RMS where Audison quotes continuous, and Audison states no conditions for its 88 dB, so the figures are not a like-for-like comparison.
Our listing says the Morel is designed to be used with an aftermarket amplifier. We found no amplifier requirement on Audison's X4E pages or manual, but size any amplifier to the 40 W continuous rating, not the 80 W peak. Morel's fitment wording says BMW and Audison's says BMW-Mini, so confirm fitment before comparing price.
Who should buy the Audison APBMW X4E, and who shouldn't
Buy it if your car's speaker position suits a 4-inch coaxial, you have confirmed clearance and fitment with us, and you want a basket and fixing screws made for the car, with plug-and-play connectors.
Look elsewhere if you want a separate tweeter position (the K4E or K4M), need bass from the doors below 100 Hz, or need Audison to name your car, which its product pages do not do. Retailers abroad publish model lists that we have not verified for India.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Do the physical check first, because the drawing letters are undefined. Audison's general APBMW manual says to turn off the head unit and other audio devices before installing and to keep speakers away from water, excess humidity, dust and dirt, which matters in a door that sees monsoon water. Treat the panel with damping; our guide to sound damping explains how. Audison also lists a separate APBMW A4E mount for BMW models with non-standard fixings; its page names no models, so ask us whether your car needs it. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.
Audison APBMW X4E price and where to buy
The Audison APBMW X4E carries an MRP of ₹49,990, the same as the X4M and K4E. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the X4E product page.

The bottom line
The Audison APBMW X4E is the heavier, mostly larger twin of the X4M with the same ratings, and the coaxial alternative to the two-way K4E. What it lacks is evidence: no owner reviews, no model list on Audison's product pages and no explanation of the E suffix. Send us your car's details and let us check clearance before you choose between the X4E, X4M and K4E.
Audison APBMW X4E FAQ
Is the Audison APBMW X4E bigger than the X4M?
On Audison's drawing, yes for five of the six dimensions; only D is smaller, at 39 mm against 44.5 mm.
What do the dimension letters on the Audison APBMW X4E mean?
Audison does not define them. Audiokauppa, a retailer, reads them as diameters and depths, and our listing calls the 39 mm figure the mounting depth. Treat both as unconfirmed and ask us to check clearance.
What is the difference between the Audison APBMW X4E and the K4E?
The X4E is a coaxial rated 40 W continuous and 80 W peak, with a 24 mm tweeter and no crossover described. The K4E is a two-way kit rated 50 W continuous and 100 W peak, with a separate 29 mm tweeter and a crossover.
Will the Audison APBMW X4E fit my BMW or Mini?
Audison's pages say BMW-Mini and give no series, models or years. Send us your car's make, model and year and we will check fitment before you order.
