Steg FANO 150 Review: Slim Mono Amp Size and Power Compared
The Steg FANO 150 is a slim mono Class D amplifier from Steg's S series, rated 100 W RMS into 4 Ω and 200 W into 2 Ω, in a body listed at 224 x 50 x 110 mm. Its Indian MRP is ₹79,990. The listing says the slim body suits tight installation spaces, so this review is about fit: how much room it needs, what the listing leaves out, and how it compares with other mono amps we sell. See it on our Steg FANO 150 product page.

Quick summary
Rated 100 W RMS at 4 Ω and 200 W at 2 Ω. The 200 W and 400 W maximum figures are not RMS, and no 1 Ω rating is listed.
Listed at 224 x 50 x 110 mm and 1.92 kg: smaller by volume than the Steg QM500.1, larger than the Deaf Bonce MLA-500.1XS.
Filters, bass boost, remote level control, input type and fusing are not listed.
We found no owner reviews. Of the mono amps compared below, it lists the lowest RMS ratings and the highest MRP.

All figures come from our store listing. We could not open Steg's own website from our research session, so none has been checked against a manufacturer page.
How much room does the FANO 150 need?
The listing doesn't name the axes. The 50 mm figure is the smallest, so it is probably the height, making the footprint 224 x 110 mm; check the real unit before cutting a panel. This table sets it beside five mono amps from our store, in order of volume (the three listed figures multiplied: a rough guide to bulk).
Amp | Listed size (mm) | Volume (litres) | RMS at 4 Ω / 2 Ω | MRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Deaf Bonce MLA-500.1XS | 151 x 83 x 35 | 0.44 | 200 W / 360 W | ₹27,990 |
Steg FANO 150 | 224 x 50 x 110 | 1.23 | 100 W / 200 W | ₹79,990 |
Deaf Bonce MFA-1.500 | 161 x 152 x 55 | 1.35 | 210 W / 360 W | ₹23,990 |
Hertz DP 1.500 | 190 x 190 x 50 | 1.81 | 280 W / 500 W | ₹24,990 |
Zapco ST-500XM III | 225 x 160 x 58 (overall) | 2.09 | 200 W / 300 W | ₹34,990 |
Steg QM500.1 | 184 x 56 x 264 | 2.72 | 200 W / 350 W | ₹39,990 |
Sizes are as listed, and axis labels vary by maker. Deaf Bonce and Hertz quote power at 14.4 V (Hertz at 1% THD), and Steg over 11 to 14.4 V.
Taking the smallest listed figure as the height in each case, the FANO's footprint has a short side of 110 mm, shorter than any other amp's here except the MLA-500.1XS at 83 mm. The trade-off is length: only the QM500.1 is clearly longer than its 224 mm, and the Zapco is level with it at 225 mm overall. At 50 mm it is level with the Hertz and 15 mm taller than the MLA-500.1XS, so slim is relative. No mounting-hole layout, terminal positions or cable size are listed, so leave room for the cables to bend.
Power, loads and subwoofer pairing
The 200 W and 400 W maximum figures are exactly double the RMS ratings. They are not RMS, and the listing gives no distortion figure. It lists no 1 Ω rating or minimum impedance, so treat 2 Ω as the lowest rated load. Ratings like these suit a small subwoofer; a 300 W RMS driver on 4 Ω would get only a third of its rating. Two examples:
The JL Audio 6W3v3-4 is a 6.5-inch, 4 Ω driver rated 150 W RMS, and our listing says it works with 50 to 150 W amplifiers, so the FANO's 100 W sits inside that range.
The Steg ST-10 is a 10-inch driver rated 200 W RMS at a nominal 2 Ω, which matches the FANO's 200 W at 2 Ω on paper. Its listing gives no box volume.
Inputs, filters and what the listing leaves out
The listing offers three selectable input sensitivity ranges, the highest 500 mV to 10 V, but doesn't say whether the inputs are RCA or speaker-level. If your factory stereo has only speaker outputs, a converter such as the two-channel JL Audio LoC22 turns them into line level.
A mono amplifier usually drives a subwoofer, which needs a low-pass filter, yet the listing mentions no low-pass or subsonic filter, phase switch, bass boost or remote level control. Without a filter on the amp, the low-pass must come from the source, such as a head unit's subwoofer output or a DSP. DSP tuning is a service we offer.
The listing credits Class D with high efficiency and low heat but gives no efficiency figure, fuse rating, current draw or cable size. Confirm those with Steg before sizing the fuse and cable.
What owners and reviewers say about the Steg FANO 150
When we checked in October 2026, we found no dealer page, manual, forum thread or review of the FANO 150. Steg's own website could not be opened from our research session, and only our store listing describes this model. If you run a FANO 150, tell us how it behaves in your car.
FANO 150 vs the QM500.1 and other mono amps
The Steg QM500.1 lists 200, 350 and 500 W RMS at 4, 2 and 1 Ω, so it is rated higher than the FANO at both shared loads, at half the MRP. The other four document what the FANO listing doesn't:
Deaf Bonce MLA-500.1XS: Class D, 1 Ω minimum load, low-pass 50 to 250 Hz, subsonic 10 to 50 Hz.
Deaf Bonce MFA-1.500: Class D, 1 Ω minimum load, low-pass 50 to 250 Hz, subsonic 10 to 55 Hz.
Zapco ST-500XM III: Class D, with low-pass, subsonic, phase and bass-boost controls and a dash-mount remote gain control.
Hertz DP 1.500: Class D, 2 Ω minimum load, low-pass 50 to 250 Hz, 0 to 9 dB bass boost, pre-in and speaker-in inputs.
All four list more RMS power than the FANO at both loads, for a lower MRP. On the listed figures, the FANO's case rests on shape.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Consider the FANO 150 if you have a long, narrow gap, plan a small subwoofer rated around 100 to 200 W RMS, and will confirm the unlisted points before you buy.
Look elsewhere if your subwoofer is rated 300 W RMS or more, you need documented filters or a confirmed speaker-level input, or MRP matters more than shape. For a compact under-seat sub, the Steg SA-65W combines a 6.5-inch driver and a 100 W RMS Class D amplifier in one shallow cabinet (₹39,990 MRP).
Installation notes for Indian cars
Measure the gap with the seat fully down and back, allowing for carpet, wiring and rails. Screw the amplifier to a rigid panel and leave air around it: the listing credits Class D with low heat, but a closed boot in an Indian summer gets hot. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, and we build custom enclosures to the volume the maker publishes. JL publishes 0.15 cubic feet (4.2 litres) sealed for the 6W3v3-4.
Price and where to buy
The Steg FANO 150 has an MRP of ₹79,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's offer on the FANO 150 product page. It is sold as a genuine Steg product.

The bottom line
The FANO 150 states its power at 4 Ω and 2 Ω and, by volume, is the second smallest of the six mono amps compared here. It also lists the lowest RMS power and the highest MRP of them, and says nothing about filters, input type or fusing. If your gap is long and narrow and your subwoofer is small, it is worth asking about.
