Recoil SXS10D2 Review: 300 W RMS Ultra-Shallow 10-Inch Sub, 80 mm Deep, Wiring and Amplifiers
The Recoil SXS10D2 is a 10-inch dual 2-ohm subwoofer from Recoil's Echo Max series, rated at 300 W RMS and 600 W peak, with a listed mounting depth of 80 mm. Its Indian MRP is ₹20,000, the same as the 12-inch Recoil SXS12D2. It suits a buyer with little mounting depth who is happy to add a separate amplifier and a box built to a volume that Recoil does not publish. You can see it on our Recoil SXS10D2 product page.

Quick summary
The 600 W in the product name is the peak figure. Recoil's own page labels the RMS rating as 300 W.
The 80 mm depth falls in the same band as the dearer shallow 10-inch drivers compared below, so ultra-shallow is Recoil's description, not a clear lead on paper.
Wired in series, the coils present 4 ohm, which suits amplifiers that list about 300 W RMS at 4 ohm.
No owner reviews or independent tests turned up in October 2026, and Recoil publishes no Xmax, Thiele/Small figures, cut-out or box volume.

Recoil's own SXS10D2 page and our listing give the 80 mm depth and the materials. The page title says 600 Watts Power with no label, so read the labelled figures lower down: 600 W peak and 300 W RMS. Recoil Audio USA's page labels only the 300 W RMS figure, gives no depth and has an empty specifications section.
Where 80 mm sits among shallow 10-inch drivers
Each row below uses the maker's own figures, and makers do not all rate power on the same basis.
Driver | India MRP | RMS (or continuous) / peak | Mounting depth | Published sealed box |
|---|---|---|---|---|
SXS10D2 | ₹20,000 | 300 W / 600 W | 80 mm | None |
Hertz MPS 250 | ₹49,990 | 500 W / 1,000 W | 82.6 – 83.6 mm | 14.2 L |
JL Audio 10TW3-D4 | ₹55,990 | 400 W / not given | 83 mm | 14.2 L |
Alpine RS-W10 | ₹82,999 | 600 W / 1,800 W | 81 mm | 13.9 – 29.4 L |
Morel Ultimo PS 104D | ₹84,990 | 700 W / 1,800 W (10 ms) | 3.1 in (80 mm) | 12.7 L |
The five depths fall between 80 mm and 83.6 mm, so depth alone does not separate them. Published data does. The Hertz MPS 250 lists a 16.8 mm Xmax, the JL Audio 10TW3-D4 15.2 mm, the Alpine RS-W10 20 mm and the Morel Ultimo PS 104D 8 mm, and each gives a sealed box volume. Recoil gives neither for the SXS10D2, and the others list at more than twice its MRP. Closer in MRP is the Morel PSL 104 (₹22,990), a 4-ohm 10-inch listed at 3.5 in deep.
Recoil Audio USA says the suspension moves the magnet group inward to cut the depth while keeping full cone excursion. With no Xmax published, that claim cannot be checked.
One coil size that does not add up
Recoil's own page and our listing give a 2 in voice coil. Recoil Audio USA prints 2.0-inch (76.5 mm), and those two numbers cannot describe one coil because 2 in is 50.8 mm. We cannot tell which figure Recoil meant. It does not change the wiring or the amplifier choice, but it shows that figures on that page need a second source.
Wiring and amplifier pairing for a dual 2-ohm 10-inch
Two 2-ohm coils give two choices: 1 ohm with the coils in parallel, or 4 ohm with them in series. Series is the easier match here, because amplifiers such as the two below list close to the driver's 300 W RMS at 4 ohm.
The Recoil ATC500.1 (₹25,000 MRP) lists 300 W RMS at 4 ohm and 520 W RMS at 2 ohm, with no test voltage stated. Its minimum load is 2 ohm, so for a single SXS10D2 series wiring is the only fit. The Deaf Bonce Machete MLA-800 (₹22,990 MRP) lists 340 W RMS at 4 ohm at 14.4 V. It also lists 790 W RMS at 1 ohm, well above the driver's rating, which makes 4 ohm the better connection even though the amplifier allows 1 ohm.
Recoil says the ATC500.1 is designed to fit directly into a subwoofer box, but gives only an overall size, 9.5 x 5.4 x 5.4 in, and no cut-out or mounting dimensions. The MLA-800 measures 325 x 216 x 50 mm, and its manual says it may heat up to 80 °C in use, so give it airflow in summer heat. Set the gain with a test tone, not by ear.
Box volume when Recoil gives none
Recoil gives no recommended volume or Thiele/Small figures, so there is nothing to build a box to yet. The table's sealed volumes belong to other drivers, so read them as a sense of scale, not a Recoil recommendation. Confirm a volume with Recoil or its distributor first. VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer enclosures once you have a figure.
What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil SXS10D2
We found no owner reviews or independent tests when we checked in October 2026. Recoil's own page for the model shows Reviews (0), and the US page shows no reviews or rating. Our searches of DIYMobileAudio and Sonic Electronix returned errors, Amazon blocked the fetch and CarAudioForum returned an empty page. What we can say about the SXS10D2 therefore rests on Recoil's own description. If you run an SXS10D2, a comment with your box volume and amplifier would help the next buyer.
Who should buy the SXS10D2, and who shouldn't
Buy it if depth is your limit, you want a 300 W RMS dual 2-ohm 10-inch at a low MRP, and you can source a box volume from Recoil or its distributor.
Look elsewhere if you want published Xmax and box advice, which the dearer shallow 10s above provide. With depth to spare, the Recoil PW10D4 lists 600 W RMS at ₹18,000 MRP and a 148 mm mounting depth. To avoid buying an amplifier and building a box, the Recoil RLS10 is a powered under-seat 10-inch at ₹20,000 MRP with a 150 W RMS amplifier, and it is 2.95 in tall.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Measure the free depth at the mounting spot, then add the baffle and box-wall thickness to the driver's 80 mm. Cut the hole to the driver itself, since no cut-out is published, and tighten the screws evenly on the gasket. Fuse the power cable near the battery, keep the amplifier clear of places where water collects in the monsoon, and secure the box against speed breakers. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.
Price and where to buy
The SXS10D2 has an India MRP of ₹20,000. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the SXS10D2 product page. The amplifier and box are separate costs. Recoil's warranty page is written for the US and states no India terms, so confirm them with Recoil or its distributor before you order.
The bottom line
The SXS10D2 is a low-MRP 10-inch driver with a paper depth in line with the dearer shallow 10s, a clear 300 W RMS rating and little else published. It makes sense when a depth limit meets a modest budget and you will settle the box volume with Recoil's help. Owner feedback would answer most of the open questions, and so far there is none.
Recoil SXS10D2 FAQ
What is the real power rating of the Recoil SXS10D2?
It is rated 300 W RMS. The 600 W in our listing name is the peak rating. Choose the amplifier by RMS at the load you wire.
Can the SXS10D2 be wired to 1 ohm?
Yes, its two 2-ohm coils in parallel present 1 ohm, but only on an amplifier listed as stable at 1 ohm. The Recoil ATC500.1 has a 2 ohm minimum load, so it needs series wiring at 4 ohm.
Does Recoil publish a box volume for the SXS10D2?
No. Recoil's pages give no enclosure volume, cut-out or Thiele/Small figures, so confirm a volume with Recoil or its distributor and measure the driver before cutting a baffle.
What voice coil size does the SXS10D2 have?
Recoil's own page and our listing say 2 in. Recoil Audio USA prints 2.0-inch (76.5 mm), which contradicts itself because 2 in is 50.8 mm.
